About AMER

Way back in the year 2000, researchers in the environment-behaviour (environmental psychology) field in Malaysia seemed to work in 'silos'. There was a need to create a database amongst those researchers for mutual benefit. Hence, the main purpose for the establishment of AMER. It was officially launched during the Opening Ceremony of 1nCEBS on 14th November 2009, with the Formative Meeting held in the evening. A Pro-tem Committee was initially formed in 2010 for the registration process with the Registrar of Societies (ROS), Malaysia. However, due to communications breakdown between ROS and AMER in 2011, the registration was turned down.  A fresh registration process was then pursued in early January 2012 with the new Pro-temp Committee, Ultimately, AMER was officially registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS), Malaysia on 27th January 2012. The updated revised constitution can be downloaded here.

New or renewal of membership should be submitted online, together with Proof of Payment and CV. All applications shall be processed soonest. AMER membership is also opened to non-Malaysian citizens.

One benefit in becoming a member of AMER is the huge discount given to members who attend forthcoming activities (national or international-level) organised by cE-Bs / AMER / ABRA. With future conferences to be held abroad, the discount given to members would more than pay back members’ annual fees.

Due to logistics, administrative and financial reasons, AMER is currently and temporarily placed under the care of the Centre for Environment-Behaviour Studies (cE-Bs), Faculty of Architecture, Planning & Surveying (FSPU), Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, Malaysia.
